Sweden Stockholm 2002
We have visited for about four days Stockholm.
Stockholm is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in North Europe. Its surrounded by water and build on a differed islands.
Sweden has interesting film industry and its famous with its fashion also as Norway.
I do love yellow and red colors and the city matches me well.Swedish are famous with their hospitality and cozy homes.
The houses in Stockholm are mainly wooden and this gives to the city great feeling of warmth and comfort.
The home that we went was extremely wonderful and there was plenty of food on a served table.
We went for massive shopping around the city and bought shoes and also coats.
Me and Keith took some nice house and slept on the second floor of it .
Most of the time we was in Gamla Stan.Stockholm its build over water and has many islands which you can rich by boat.It was Christmas and we went to an Italian restaurant to have something warm and also glass of wine or two.We have done hell allot of a shopping like clothes and also shoes. On the second day we went to one of the islands by boat and just had lunch and breakfast there. We have took some photographs in the city but the was not that great. It was dark most of the time. The place we were was lovely and has fantastic view from the window and it was in one of the districts. We did not visited the palaces just viewed some of the outside.
We had some budget tickets with the airplane to there.
Stockholm is the capital of Sweden Stockholm is the most populous city in Sweden and on the Scandinavian peninsula, with a population of 871.000
As we were shopping in IKEA(very famous home store around Europe)in London we was inspired to visit the country as most of the time we was watching the catalogs. It is also a favorite brand of my mother in law.
Sweden its also a birthplace of the child autor Astrid Lingren and the country reminds me of my childhood and the time spend in nature during the autumn.
It is my favorite season and I love to watch the trees all covered in yellow and red leaves. Keith also has its connection with Scandinavia and was very exited to visit. Although we have not visited the city exactly on New year but the month earlier we have spend really nice time feeling the spirit of the Christmas.
During the day was almost dark and the sky was stormy and gray at 13.00pm was almost like a night. The skies was falling above us and looks a bit scary. Before 10.00 o clock was even sunny and nice to walk. Thats why we had to get up really early at the mornings to enjoy the air and the sun.Scandinavian Interior designs are one of the most popular in Europe and busting the markets with all sorts of new ideas.
Scandinavian food its one of the best. Its mainly burger with salmon rule of pigs with red cabbage and cream soup with mushrooms.
Founded in c. 1250, possibly as early as 1187, Stockholm has long been one of Sweden's cultural, media, political, and economic centers. Its strategic location spread across 14 islands on the coast in the south-east of Sweden at the mouth of Lake Malaren, by the Stockholm archipelago, has been historically important. Stockholm has been nominated by GGaWc as a big city, with a ranking of Alpha- In The 2008 Global Cities Index, Stockholm ranked 24th in the world, 10th in Europe, and first in Scandinavia Stockholm is known for its beauty, its buildings and architecture, its abundant clean and open water, and its many parks. It is sometimes referred to as Venice of the North. The city's oldest section is "Gamla Stan" (Old Town), located on the original small islands of the city's earliest settlements and still featuring the medieval street layout. Some notable buildings of Gamla Stan are the large German Church and several mansions and palaces: the , the Bonde Palace, the and the Oxenstierna Palace.
Between the 17th and the 19th century the "House of Nobility"in Stockholm its interesting to see.
In the 18th century, the building was often used for public concerts. From 1731, public concerts were performed here by Kungliga Hovkapellet. Elisabeth Olin is believed to have debuted here in the 1750s, and foreign artists performed such as Elisabetta Almerighi, Giovanni Ansani (1772) and Rosa Sacarlatty
After 1866, when the Riksdag of the Estates was replaced by the new Riksdag, the Swedish House of Nobility served as a quasi-official representation of the Swedish nobility, regulated by the Swedish government. Since 2003, it has been a private institution, which maintains records and acts as an interest group on behalf of the Swedish nobility, with the main purpose to maintain old traditions and culture.
Axel Oxenstierna palace in the Old Town of Stockholm was designed by architect Jean de la Vallée to Chancellor Axel Oxenstierna and the construction started in 1653. The palace became the headquarters for the 1668-1680 Swedish Central Bankand after a series of state institutional policy.
The palace is uniquely conserved in particular to the exterior. There are state historic building since 1935 and is one of the Swedish architectural art's most significant and well-preserved works.
The oldest building in Stockholm is the Riddarholmskyrkan from the late 13th century. After a fire in 1697 when the original medieval castle was destroyed, Stockholm Palace was erected in a baroque style. Storkyrkan Cathedral, the episcopal seat of the Bishop of Stockholm, stands next to the castle. It was founded in the 13th century but is clad in a baroque exterior dating to the 18th century.

Thins to see in Malmo which we did not see it is a turning Torso highest building and also Lila Torg caffee
Malmohus castle were there is several museums.Malmö Castle is a fortress located in Malmo, Scania, in southern Sweden. The first castle was founded in 1434 by King Eric of Pomerania. This structure was demolished in early 16th century, and a new one was built in its place in the 1530s byKing Kristian Denmark. Historically, this fortress was one of the most important strongholds of Denmark
The castle was for five years (1568–1573) the prison of James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell, third husband of Mary, Queen of Scots. The earl was taken into custody on the orders of the Protestant Danish king Frederick II of Denmark when his ship ran aground in Bergen, Norway during a storm. He was sent to Malmö Castle to be imprisoned, although he had previously been released from Tower of London for lack of evidence in the murder of Mary's second husband, Henry Steward, Lord Darnley. As a bachelor, Frederick II courted Elizabeth I of England and was made a Knight of the Garter. Some sources suggest a second reason for the involvement in this matter by the Danish king; he is thought to have held hopes of collecting a ransom from Scotland. However, the Earl of Bothwell died in 1578 in Dragshholm Castle, Zealand, where he had been moved after the first five years in Danish captivity, without ever being the subject of Danish-Scottish negotiations for his release.
extra and also Folkest Park lovely to sit in it.
