Angola Luanda -Huambo 1988
Angola is a country in central-southern Africa. It borders with the Democratic Republic of the Congo northeast of Zambia to the east, the Republic of Congo to the north and Namibia to the south. West has a wide outlet to the Atlantic. The country is divided into several natural regions - dry coast of the capital Luanda to the border with Namibia; moist mountainous area inside the country; High-plateau region in the south and southeast and rain forests in the northern parts of the country and in Cabinda. Sources of the Zambezi River and several tributaries of the Congo River is located on the territory of Angola.
I have visited Angola during the regime of Jonas Savimbi and most of the country was badly ruined.
The capital Luanda does not have amazing architectural site except several Portuguese houses in old Manuelian style. They re covered with blue tiles just like in Portugal.I have staid in Luanda just for 3 days with my dad and mum and after this we had to move to Huambo town with my parents which is 3 hours fly away from the capital.
The capital Luanda its one of the most expensive places in the world even more expensive than Moscow.
On the first night we have staid in a hotel "Tropico" and went out at the evening for a long walk around the city main street Marginal and getting some ice cream. The hotel its six kilometeres from the shopping venues of Luanda.
There was only several shops open and we went there with mum to get some souvenirs for me.
most of her colleges was around the table at the hotel restaurant for a meal and we had some nice white fish and Portuguese wine.I clearly remember the restaurant like a very specious and lovely place in white color.
On the next day we went for a swim at the Ocean and the beach line was full of small crabs. The water its very salty so we have burned fast.On the next day we went to the local market for fruit and vegetables to get some fruits for ourselves. There are several markets in Luanda. There are several great markets in Luanda, and none is particularly different from the other. What sets Benfica apart is the interesting crossroads of people that it attracts from surrounding countries. The artisans works here, particularly the jewllery, is really unique at this market. There may be some illegal goods, such as ivory, so use caution and your best judgement when purchasing gifts. The food market here is about the same as all of the Luanda markets, but the prices can be a little cheaper.Feeling really hot outside most of the time we have passed at the hotel which was with good air condition. There are several churches which its nice to visit in Luanda and most of them are Catholic,as you know the country was long time under Portuguese rule. Now a day there is a big Chinese investments in Angola into property market.New quarters and malls has being build, and many new cafes has been opened. The national food of Angola its Mandioka. Its a root. and also they are eating lots of fried chicken. The main things to seein Luanda its Banko de Angola and the fort.
Most of the people living in bungalow like type of buildings and the rest of the population into soviet type of block towers. Some of the buildings have on the top something like a floor constructed and garden.
It is town in the mountains of Angola. For the country are specific meet eating plants ,magnolia trees and also banana palm tree cocoa palm tree.Washington palm and Bugenvilia and also Kalanchoe and three of heppiness and Porcelain rose and Anthurium. which are almost everywhere. My mother was working there as teacher of Biology and Chemistry at the local university of Huambo town.I have staid with my father and mum for one month in the country. After Luanda we had to catch the plain for Huambo but we got stuck at the local airport for tree days.
The flight took us one hour to the mountaineer aria of Angola.
Huambo its the second largest city of Angola and residence of Jonas Savimbi. There is a small factory of making fizzy drinks in there and also some beer.
We have visited the local carnival and also small bar "Kimbanda "were we had some beer with the locals.
We have visited the local markets and the local garden The water supplies of the country are ruined and we used to take water from the rivers near by.Animals was not seen around as it was war before and the first animals was brought from South Africa in 2006.Most of the time I was drawing some catches on the balcony and watching TV with mum.She had small garden in front of the apartment which she used to care about and also lemon three. Most of the time she was making Makrame which is African way of kneeing ropes and making from them peaces of art and also ropes for holding pots with flowers.
Angola nightlife is certainly has improved with the time and now there is nice bars around the Ocean . The open air bar/disco extends out to the water and it overlooks the city of Luanda. Luanda main street can be deceptively beautiful, almost like the French Riviera. There are many villas of the rich people around the coast line now.

Kizomba is one of the most popular genres of dance and music originating in Angola. It mixes influences of traditional semba with Angolan merengue and Kilapanda (traditional Angolan music). On this basis, Kizomba music emerged as a more modern music genre with a sensual touch mixed with African rhythm. Unlike semba, kizomba music is characterised by a slower and usually very romantic rhythm, sung generally in Portuguese.
It was the Kimbundu name for a dance in Angola as early as 1894. The Kizomba dancing style is also known to be very sensual and flows with a music of a romantic flow.

Huambo-Angola
(Portuguese: Nova Lisboa), is the capital of Huambo Province in Angola. The city is located about 220 km E from Benguela and 600 km SE from Luanda. The city is the second largest in Angola, after the capital city, Luanda. Huambo is a main hub on the Caminho de Ferro de Benguela (CFB) (the Benguela Railway), which runs from the port of Lobito to the Democratic Republic of the Congo's southernmost province, Shaba. Huambo is served by the Albano Machado Airport (formerly Nova Lisboa Airport). The city would still be formally under the control of the MPLA government, but tension progressively built-up due to increasing violent actions. By the end of 1992 all foreign aid agencies had withdrawn from Huambo. UNITA took full control of the town in the course of a horrendous street-to-street battles that started just after Christmas 1992 and reached its climax by mid-January in the following year. Violent combats in and around Huambo continued still for 55 days, until the MPLA Government troops retired and UNITA gained full control of the city. Most other cities in the Central Plateau were occupied too by UNITA at the time. The armed conflict flared up again in August 1994. A large offensive gave back to the Government the control of Huambo on 9 November, and soon after all other provincial capitals. The UNITA headquarters was then moved to Jamba in the province of Kuando Kubango.
