Portugal Porto,Steubel,Lisbon and Algarive 2009
Portugal nature mountain Estrella
It was much of a excitement for me to visit Portugal as it is one of the favorite countries of my husband which he has visited as child with his parents.I have spend in there about three weeks. On a first glance the country looked rough and neglected and not much of a excitement to visit. Then as passing by car 30 km I have started to see many olive trees and rivers passing by.The country its surprisingly rich of vegetation and so many exotic plants and flowers are growing there. At the pick of the mountains vegetation is law near the ground but formate colorful carpet of herbs and flowers.Mountains Estrella are fantastic place to be and have some glass of wine and food in the local small bars around the roads. Most unusual trees are growing in Portugal which are quite specific for Latin America.
Portugal its famous as colonial country as ell as France and Spain also and as I have visited Angola as a child was interesting for me to see it.The capital Lisbon its famous with the massive construction bridge Vasko da Gama which is long something as 5 km also.
Lisbon is a great combination of Manueline architecture and old tiled buildings and also lovely flooring at some of the main squires.
The tiles are blue as color and had painted.Lisbon is covered with glicinias and has fantastic small pubs and the food its fantastic. Its mainly fish and fruits de mar combined with olives. One of the most interesting things are the trams driving trough the long streets build under 45 degrees and the quarter of Bahia. The capital its on the coast line of Atlantic ocean.
Before to visit I have passed trough the small town of Steubel and had nice lunch in there and good walk around the waters very much reminded me of some sort of Americas. Was full of palm trees and nice american style bars for beer. The sunset was great and we had quick stop for cake after.I love the food and I can have much of it to be honest it is one of the best cuisines in Europe.Ispiared by the faimouse paintworks of Paula Rego also visited London I have decided that its great to see Portugal. As I had nice walk around the city I have visited the National theatre and also Museum "Chiado".Wen I have checked on Internet I have seen some peaces of art from Jose Almada Negreiros graphics and the Impressionist Antonio Soaires. Most of the Portuguese painters are faimous with its scquire block painting of bodies and quite furm colors. They have strong face expressions and positions of the torso.
and also Sintra palace, and had some beer and wine at he local pubs. Some parts of the city are covered with lovely graffity by the portuguese artist Nunka and also Carneiro wall art which has made art peaces in all sorts of places in Portugal. The cetre of the city its paved with some mosaic borders which gives unusual romanesque appearance to it.It is in Black and white colors.I havestaied at one lovely house quite old as upearance with great large windows looking towards nice small garden.
There is big interest to the big interest for me to see second biggest city in Portugal connected to the piracy trades all around the world and has brought to the crown so much gold and silver as well as spices. Its the capital of Porto wine and it is situated on a Duoro river. The city has most fantastic examples of Churches in the country. Most of the British really like to travel down south and thats why we are heading to there near Faro and I have spend some nights at one lovely farm barn heaving local food and enjoying the silence around.
During my stay in Portugal I have visited several houses invited by people some small pubs and also cake places and also introduced to the local village culture and watching many movies during my trip. The cigarettes are not expensive but not very good. The country its with great Catholic influence and the church has many connections with Latin America. The best examples of Catholic churches in Lisbon are Sao Roche and San Miguel and many more really could not remember the names of all)))) I don't like Fado and to be honest I do not enjoy Portuguese music at all. With my Husband we have visited quite often Portuguese restaurants.

Porto second large city in Portugal
Setubal Portugal
Just before entering the Portuguese capital lisbon I have stopped in town of Setubal. Siting with glass of beer I have enjoyed this very American view of the canal. The town its very small but very beautiful.I went for cafe and cake after walking trough the town center. The cakes are really nice.I have spend just few hours in this beautiful place. In 1860 King Pedro Fifth officially
recognized Setubal as town. Its situated on a banks of the river Sedo and during 20 century its one of the very important centers of the fishing industry.During the afternoon I have visited with one of the Portuguese small but very cozy fish restaurant full of plants and we have watched the football game on screen. Than I have left for a nice big horse farm to see some raise horses.. |
